    Details of Disappearance

Carroll was seen at his residence, a cabin in the vicinity of 400 South 400 West in Victor, Idaho, on November 10, 2005. He left all of his belongings behind: the contents of his pockets, including keys and chewing tobacco, were lying on the table, and a wallet containing $7,000 in cash was hidden behind the toilet. He left his residence locked and didn't take a coat or any of his vehicles, and he left a substantial sum of money behind in two bank accounts, which haven't been touched. Carroll has never been heard from again. His sister described him as a frugal individual who wouldn't have left his money behind if he'd walked out of his life.

Shortly before his disappearance, Carroll had a conversation with his father about disappearing and taking on a new identity. His father didn't take him seriously at the time and it's unclear whether his statements have any bearing on his disappearance. He was negotiating a divorce and was distressed about it. He and his ex-wife had sold their home, making $100,000 in profits from the deal. He still owed her $7,000 from her share of the money, which is exactly the sum found hidden in his bathroom. Carroll had told his sister that if anything should happen to him, they should question his ex-wife. However, she has been cleared as a suspect in his disappearance.

Carroll worked at as a delivery driver for a lumber yard in Jackson Hole, Wyoming at the time he went missing. His cabin was too remote for him to have walked anywhere, and he had no history of hitchhiking. There hasn't been any activity on his Social Security number since he was last seen. His father believes he's deceased, but the circumstances of his disappearance are unclear and his case remains unsolved.
