    Details of Disappearance

Fritz resided in Faemingdale, New York with his mother. He attended an outpatient program at Sunrise Psychiatric Clinic in the 30 block of John Street in Amityville, New York. Fritz was last seen inside the facility at approximately 12:30 p.m. on January 29, 2002. He normally received a van ride back to his home at the end of the day. Fritz's mother became concerned when he did not return to their residence by 3:30 p.m. Clinic employees told her that they lost track of her son approximately three hours earlier.

Officials initially believed that Fritz walked away from the facility and returned home. His mother said that employees never contacted her regarding her son's disappearance until she reported he failed to arrive home later during the day. At the time of his disappearance, Fritz was carrying one dollar for lunch and a quarter in case he needed to make a pay phone call. He has never been heard from again.
