    Details of Disappearance

Megan disappeared from Fairfield, Illinois on July 3, 2014. She lived with her stepfather and her mother, who last saw her at 10:30 p.m. When her mother went into her bedroom to say goodnight at 11:15 p.m., Megan was gone. She left behind a note for her mother, saying she loved her but thought she would never be happy at home. Megan's mother believes it's possible Megan didn't really write the note or, if she did, she wrote it under duress. Her mother stated Megan was not a troubled teen and wasn't having any problems at home. Nevertheless, authorities believe she left of her own accord.

Surveillance video showed her riding her bicycle up to a local bank and withdrawing money from the ATM machine; this is the last sign of her. Her mother reported her missing at 1:00 a.m. on July 4. Megan didn't have a job, a driver's license or access to a car at the time of her disappearance. She left her cellular phone behind at home, and wiped it prior to her disappearance.

Megan may be in Carbondale, Illinois. Authorities thought she might be with her biological father, a registered sex offender, but he could not be located for some time because he had moved without registering his new address as required by law. Eventually police located Megan's father in Oklahoma and questioned him, but could find no evidence that he knew his daughter's whereabouts. Few details are available in her case.
