    Details of Disappearance

Shultz as last seen at her residence in the vicinity of Amelia and Old Highway 63 in Columbia, Missouri at approximately 1:00 a.m. on August 4, 2006, three days after her twenty-fourth birthday. She left the residence on foot to meet friends, and never returned. She has never been heard from again. Shultz was reported missing at 8:45 a.m., nearly eight hours after she was last seen. Her friends stated she never arrived to meet them.

Shultz's mother stated her daughter was a happy young woman and a good student until about age 17, when her behavior began to change. She became unstable and occasionally violent, dropped out of school, could not maintain a job, and once spent a short period in a mental hospital. She was arrested for domestic assault twice, once in 2003 and once in 2005. Shultz appeared to improve after she married in 2005 and had an infant daughter, but a few months after the birth she began having depressive episodes. After her August 2006 disappearance, her mother discovered evidence that during her marriage, Shultz was involved with drug use and other illegal and risky activity. She has lived in the Columbia area her whole life and attended Rock Bridge High School.

Foul play is not suspected in Shultz's case; authorities believe she left of her own accord. Her mother is concerned for her safety, however, as Shultz has never before been gone longer than a few days without contact. There have been possible sightings of her in the Jefferson City, northern Boone County, and Kansas City areas of Missouri. Her husband has filed for divorce and is raising their child. Shultz's case remains unsolved.
