    Details of Disappearance

Jesse was last seen at his home near 239th Avenue and Twilight Trail in Buckeye, Arizona on July 17, 2016. His mother, Crystal Wilson, put him to bed at 9:30 p.m. She reported him missing at 1:30 a.m.

According to Crystal, Jesse had a history of leaving home without permission. He had left home on April 25 of that year, climbing out his second-floor bedroom window, and was found in a neighbor's garage at 4:35 a.m. Jesse told police he liked to go to school in the middle of the night and that was where he had been going that night. He said he lived with his grandmother and an aunt, and couldn't give his parents' names. He stated he was "scared" but wouldn't say what of. Crystal described her son as "a handful" and claimed he suffered from learning and developmental problems. Police returned Jesse to his mother and did not contact child welfare authorities.

There had been a prior report of abuse in the family; in 2011, police went to the Wilson home to investigate. Jesse and his brother were strapped to their beds with shoulder harnesses, and Crystal said she used the harnesses because the boys had sneaked out of the house. They appeared to be well fed and had no signs of abuse. Neighbors in Avondale, where the Wilsons lived before moving to Goodyear, reported that Jesse, his twin sister and his older brother were locked out of the house occasionally after school and would go to other people's houses to ask for food and drinks.

Shortly after Jesse was reported missing, the Arizona Department of Child Safety removed Jesse's siblings from Crystal's custody and placed them in foster care. The state is seeking to terminate her parental rights towards all of her children, including Jesse. There was a dependency hearing on the matter in October 2016, but Crystal didn't appear

Jesse attended Discovery Creemos Academy in Goodyear, Arizona at the time of his disappearance; he was due to enter the fourth grade in the fall of 2016. In spite of his history of leaving home at night, he had never been gone for an extended period before. Although Crystal continues to maintain he simply ran away, police have not ruled out foul play in his case. His disappearance remains unsolved.
