Details of Disappearance

Brundage was last seen leaving his job in Quakertown, Pennsylvania on October 1, 2004. He worked for Applegate Farms, an organic foods distributor, at the time. He has never been heard from again.

When his family members checked his home on Glen Meadow Court on October 13, they discovered that the back door had a broken window and the door itself appeared to have been pried open. Brundage's house uncharacteristically messy, with mold and cat feces. His cellular phone, clothing and other belongings were inside the house, and his car parked outside.

Brundage let a roommate, Daman Smoot, move into his home shortly before his disappearance. Brundage told his grandmother he regretted this action and wanted Smoot to leave.

Following Brundage's disappearance, Smoot continued to live in his home and drive his car, and provided different stories as to whether he thought Brundage had gone. He claimed Brundage had left the state without telling anyone; he said Brundage had cancer; he said Brundage had checked into a drug treatment facility and didn't want anyone to know.

Smoot tampered with the electric meter at Brundage's home to restart the power after the electric company cut it off. He pleaded guilty to theft of services, and later was sentenced to prison for indecent assault on a teenage girl. Investigators haven't said whether they believe Smoot was involved in Brundage's case.

Brundage was born in Iowa and was raised there by his grandparents from a young age after his parents divorced and moved to opposite sides of the country. He moved to Quakertown to be with his father when he was a teenager.

He attended Quakertown Community High School, dropped out and got a GED, and worked odd jobs. He had two children by his longtime girlfriend, but by the time of Brundage's disappearance the couple had ended their relationship and they fought over child support and child custody issues.

Brundage's father died in 2003 and he got into minor trouble with the law that same year, but his family stated he seemed to have regained his equilibrium and hadn't shown any indications of wanting to walk out of his life. He used his father's life insurance to buy a house and car, and maintained regular contact with his stepmother. He said he liked his new job and was thinking of enrolling in college.

Investigators believe Brundage was the victim of a homicide. They have a person of interest in his case, but no charges have been filed against anyone. There has been no activity on his Social Security number or bank accounts since his disappearance. Brundage's case remains unsolved.
