Details of Disappearance

Deans was last seen at approximately 9:00 a.m. on January 19, 2004, at her residence in the vicinity of the 1400 block of Wiley Road in Spring Hope, North Carolina.

She got into an argument with her roommate, Kimberly Hancock, that morning. Hancock stated Deans called someone to pick her up, then left with the individual shortly afterwards. She has never been heard from again. Hancock could not describe the individual Deans left with.

Deans left behind her four children at her home, one of them an infant. Two of the children were given over to their grandmother and two, the baby and a five-year-old, were placed in foster care after her disappearance.

Hancock claims Deans called her on March 24, over two months after she went missing, and asked permission to pick up her children, and Hancock told her to contact the Department of Social Services.

Deans never called back and never got in touch with Social Services. Hancock reported her as a missing person on April 19, three months after her disappearance.

Two of Deans's children's names are tattooed on her body, and she may have added the names of the other two after she went missing. She kept in touch with the children regularly but they have not heard from her since her disappearance.

Deans's mother believes she may have a career as a waitress somewhere. Her case remains unsolved. Rocky Mount, North Carolina police are investigating her disappearance.
