Details of Disappearance

Arehart was last seen in Plainwell, Michigan on December 26, 1987. She left her house on Brigham Street sometime between midnight and 6:00 a.m., wearing only her nightgown with a coat put on over it, and leaving her glasses behind. She never returned. Although it wasn't snowing that day, the temperatures ranged from 29 to 37 degrees, and she could not have survived without shelter.

When Arehart left her home that night, she left a note for her husband saying she was going to take her own life. Her coat and shoes were found on the nearby Hill Street Bridge over the Kalamazoo River, but her body has not been located. Six months after Arehart's disappearance, her family held a memorial service for her.
