Details of Disappearance Earl was last seen in Tallapoosa, Georgia on June 8, 2018. She wanted to purchase an ATV (all-terrain vehicle) for her son's birthday. Jeffery Seth Odom, a man she'd met about a month earlier, said he had a friend who was selling one. Earl had just gotten her tax return, and she gave Odom $500, but he never gave her the ATV he was supposed to buy for her.
She tracked him down at a residence on Little Circle and demanded her money back. Witnesses reported they got into an argument, and Odom took Earl's keys and purse. She called a friend, frightened and asking for a ride, saying she was afraid Odom was going to hurt her. This is the last time anyone saw or heard from her. Her phone was later found in a wooded area near the Little Circle residence.
Odom has an extensive criminal history and had felony warrants out for his arrest at the time of Earl's disappearance. He dropped out of sight a few weeks after she was last seen. He resurfaced in July and turned himself in to police. He was arrested, and interviewed about Jones's case. A photo of him is posted with this case summary.
Odom said that Earl was under the influence of drugs and in an altered mental state on the date of her disappearance. He said the last time he saw her, she was wandering around in the woods looking for arrowheads. He said he didn't know her whereabouts and suffered she was either "hiding out" or trying to "dry out" from drug use.
No one has been charged in Earl's disappearance, but investigators believe she came to harm. Her case remains unsolved.
