Details of Disappearance

Megan was last seen in a playground fifty or sixty feet from her family's home at Casa Grande Apartments in the 4600 block of South Paluxy Drive in Tyler, Texas on March 27, 1991 between 11:15 and 11:20 a.m. She was accompanied by her six-year-old brother and two cousins, aged eight and four.

Twice during the morning, Megan returned home for raisins, water and to use the bathroom. She was last seen by a fence that separated Casa Grande Apartments from duplexes and another set of apartments to the north, near the entrance to a laundromat. She had been instructed to never cross the street alone.

Between 11:15 and 11:20, the other children left the playground to go home for a drink of water. Megan apparently decided to stay at the playground. When they arrived home, Megan's mother asked where she saw and the children said they thought she was upstairs. Megan's mother told them to go get her. The children returned at 11:30 and said they couldn't find her. The family searched for her for about an hour before notifying police.

A man was seen at a local grocery store with a child matching Megan's description about four hours after after Megan disappeared. He's described as white, about 35 years old and 5'8 or 5'9 tall, with a muscular build. Nothing came of this possible sighting and no suspects in Megan's case have ever been identified.

Megan's case is considered to be a probable non-family abduction. Her mother remarried and moved away after her disappearance, but continues to hope for answers in her case.
