He also had an unfinished tattoo on his arm at the time of his disappearance; it was meant to say "MONICA" but only the M and O had been completed.

Bechtold was last seen in Ainsworth, Nebraska on January 25, 1995, just prior to his departure to attend a wedding in Colorado. Two men in a blue and white 1979 pickup truck picked him up and headed west; he has never been heard from again.
