Details of Disappearance

Alexis's mother last spoke to her on March 25, 2025. At 9:00 a.m. on March 29, Alexis and her husband, Aaron Nelson, were seen together on video at the Kwik Trip on North Center Drive in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Phone records indicate Alexis later traveled to Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, then back to Beaver Dam. Alexis's mother reported her missing on October 30, 2025, after not having heard from her in six months.

Aaron is known to have purchased a 32-gallon trash can the day after Alexis was last seen, and on April 2 he created a new Facebook account for himself under an alias name, in which he said he was a widower. Later that month he created a profile on the dating app Tinder. By June, he had moved in with a woman he met on Tinder. They became engaged and he gave her Alexis's old engagement ring. He told his new fiancée that Alexis had died of cancer; he told coworkers she had died of alcohol abuse.

In May 2026, Aaron was arrested for his wife's murder. A photo of him is posted with this case summary. According to Alexis's mother, her relationship with Aaron was "on and off" and he was abusive. He is awaiting trial.

The trash can Aaron had purchased, along with other items, were found on his fiancée's property and a cadaver dog indicated the scent of human remains in the trash can, which also tested positive for Alexis's DNA. The dog also detected human remains in the bedroom and kitchen of Aaron's former apartment, and a small amount of blood was found in a storage unit he rented which matched Alexis's DNA. Her DNA was also found on a gun and two knives in a vehicle Aaron formerly owned.

Alexis's body has never been found, but foul play is suspected due to the circumstances involved.
