- Medical Conditions Bosworth was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a cancer of the blood, in 2007. He underwent chemotherapy and went into remission, but the cancer returned in his eye in 2009, and he had more chemotherapy treatments as well as radiation. Bosworth had a bone marrow transplant in April 2010 and went into remission afterwards. By the time of his disappearance, he had been complaining of severe headaches and had been confused and disoriented; his oncologist believes the lymphoma had possibly metastasized in the frontal lobe of his brain. If this scenario did in fact occur and the cancer was left untreated, Bosworth would have become increasingly confused and then die in a matter of weeks or months.
- Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Gray hair, blue eyes. Bosworth may wear prescription Converse eyeglasses with black rims for reading. He is balding and may have a short gray beard. He has two small scars on the back of his head.
Details of Disappearance
Bosworth was last seen at a Cycle Oregon event in Riddle, Oregon on September 16, 2011. He had volunteered to run a booth on Main Street near Riddle High School that evening and he was last seen walking along a road between Riddle and Canyonville, Oregon sometime between 11:00 and 11:30 p.m., after leaving his booth. He said he was going to find his tent, but he never arrived there and has never been heard from again.
On the day of his disappearance, Bosworth had appeared exhausted and wasn't acting as he usually did: he was extremely quiet and didn't participate much in the event. He is unfamiliar with the Riddle area. He was carrying less than $100 in cash on him when he vanished, probably about $40, as well as an iPhone 4 with a dead battery and possibly a small black bag with straps. He left his bicycle, wallet, credit cards and identification behind.
At the time of his disappearance, Bosworth worked as a mapping specialist for the Portland Metro; he'd been employed there for twenty years. He and his wife were about to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, and they have two daughters together.
Due to Bosworth's state of health, he is considered to be at risk. He may be suffering from amnesia and may possibly try to return to New York, where he lived for ten years in the 1980s. His case remains unsolved.
