Details of Disappearance
Stauffer disappeared on on August 24, 2007. He and his fiancee, Karen Dodds, were on a plane en route to Bad Axe, Michigan when they crashed in the Straits of Mackinac near Bois Blanc Island at 1:30 p.m. Dodds's body and some wreckage from the plane was recovered in October 2007. In August 2024, Stauffer's remains were identified; they were found near plane wreckage discovered near Bois Blanc Island.
