His remains were found in the storm cellar of an Enid home in August, and in September, four suspects were charged with Sheppard's murder: Victor Battelo, Charles Jordan, Devin Harris and Heaven Jordan. Victor is Kendra's uncle. Authorities believe the defendants lured Sheppard to Charles's house in order to confront him about his suspected involvement in Kendra's disappearance.
Victor allegedly told an acquaintance that he had punched, kicked and stomped on Sheppard but that Sheppard kept saying he didn't do anything to Kendra. Victor also allegedly said that he and a friend had slit Sheppard's throat. Charles supposedly told an inmate about the murder and offered the inmate money to help move Sheppard's body. Harris admitted to the police that he stood guard outside Charles's home while Sheppard was being beaten.
The four suspects are awaiting trial. Authorities stated they had no direct evidence connecting Sheppard to Kendra's disappearance.
It's unusual for Kendra to be out of contact with her family or social media for more than several days in a row. Her disappearance remains unsolved.
