Details of Disappearance

Linda was last seen in Tustin, California on October 6, 1977. She met her ex-husband, Phillip LeBeau, at Love's Restaurant that evening to collect some money from him. After the meeting, Linda was at a Texaco gas station at Red Hill Avenue and El Camino Real in her car, a cream-colored 1971 Volkswagen microbus with the California license plate number 257NXS.

Witnesses saw Linda arguing at the gas station with another man, whom investigators believe was Phillip, inside her Volkswagen. Linda got gas, then got into her vehicle and accidentally backed into someone else's car. Linda jumped out of the Volkswagen and ran towards Red Hill Avenue, but the man she was with chased after her and grabbed her by the arm, and she returned to her vehicle.

Linda spoke to the driver of the car she hit, and he gave her his contact information. She has never been heard from again. Her Volkswagen was found four days later on the shoulder of the Red Hill freeway onramp to southbound Interstate 5. Her purse was inside it and there were no indications of a struggle at the scene.

Linda was Phillip's third wife. They had a history of domestic violence in their four-year marriage. After their divorce, Phillip broke into her apartment, stole some of her personal belongings, slashed the tires of her new boyfriend's car and poured sugar into his gas tank. The day Linda disappeared, he was supposed to give her $300 to pay for the damage to her boyfriend's vehicle.

Authorities learned that on the night of Linda's disappearance, Phillip returned home much later than expected, wet and wearing different clothes than he had been wearing when he left. He was seeing another woman by then, but remained fixated on his ex-wife.

Investigators believe Linda was murdered, and Phillip is the prime suspect in her disappearance. A photo of him at the time of his wedding to Linda is posted with this case summary. He died in 2008. Authorities still hope to get answers in Linda's disappearance and find her body. Her case remains unsolved.
