• Distinguishing Characteristics Black male. Black hair, brown eyes. King is blind his right eye and usually wears a patch over it if he isn't wearing sunglasses. He has a scar on his throat. He goes by his middle name, Marco, and some agencies refer to him as "Marco Leonard King". He had a slender, muscular build in 1994.

Details of Disappearance

King was last seen in May 1994. At the time of his disappearance, he was living on a two-acre property in a very remote area on Stallion Road off Route 286 in the Three Points/Robles Junction area in Pima County, Arizona. He and his brothers owned the property, which had no gas, electricity or running water. He lived on an old bus on the property.

He worked as a ranch hand at the Keeylocko Ranch, which was about forty to fifty miles southwest of Tucson, Arizona. He would sometimes stay at the ranch for several days at a time, because he didn't own a working vehicle and the ranch was about fourteen miles from his home. He walked or hitchhiked as a means of transportation.

King signed up for Medicaid health insurance coverage on May 23, 1994. Records at Keeylocko Ranch indicated he was present there on May 27 and until at least noon on May 28, but one of his neighbors said they hadn't seen him since May 20, when he arrived at their home to collect water. His rifle disappeared from the ranch at the same time he did. He left his clothing, cigarettes, backpack, hat, sunglasses and a book he was reading behind at the ranch, letters and food stamps in his mailbox at home, and his beloved three dogs at home.

King's daughter was in the Coast Guard in 1994, and she and her father wrote to each other regularly. She sent him a letter postmarked May 31, and it arrived in King's mailbox but was never picked up. King would call his mother in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania multiple times per month, but she stopped hearing from him after May 1994.

His brothers had been away from their Stallion Road property for some time before he went missing. It was his sisters in southern Arizona who reported his disappearance to police in early June 1994.

After King's disappearance, a person who has never been identified dropped a large bag of dog food off at his property on Stallion Road. Someone also removed mail from his mailbox at the Three Points post office. On June 21, the police told the postmaster to ask for identification before allowing access to the box.

The circumstances of King's disappearance are unclear.
