Details of Disappearance

Cader was last seen in Humboldt County, California on October 9, 1981. He left his mother's home in Loleta at 9:00 a.m. in his blue 1971 Chevrolet pickup truck, saying he was going to make up with an ex-girlfriend. The girlfriend said she saw him but that they were only together for about ten minutes. Another witness saw him later in the day near the Eel River.

He has never been heard from again. His mother filed a missing persons report. On January 30, 1982, his pickup truck was found by hunters in Mendocino County. It had been stripped down and gone over an embankment. There was no sign of him at the scene.

Investigators stated Cader was missing under suspicious circumstances. At the time of his disappearance, he stayed back and forth between Loleta and Piercy, where his girlfriend lived and where he grew marijuana. It was illegal at the time. Clandestine marijuana farms were common in the area where he disappeared, and his granddaughter believes his disappearance was drug-related.

Cader dropped out of school when he was about fourteen years old and went to work as a lumberjack. He was divorced, but he was close to his children and his loved ones do not believe he would have walked out of his life; they believe he's deceased. His case remains unsolved.
