Details of Disappearance Osiel disappeared from Roswell, New Mexico on January 5, 2020. Family members found the body of his mother, Isela Mauricio-Sanchez, inside her home in the 600 block of east Forest Street. Osiel was missing and is presumed to have been abducted by his non-custodial father, Jorge Ernesto Rico-Ruvira. He is Mauricio-Sanchez's boyfriend and is the prime suspect in her murder. There was a history of domestic violence in their relationship and Rico-Ruvira was charged with aggravated battery against a household member in October 2019, after he allegedly choked Mauricio-Sanchez.
Photographs of Rico-Ruvira are posted with this case summary. His date of birth is November 17, 1987, making him 32 years old at the time of Osiel's abduction. He's described as Hispanic, 5'8 and 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has outstanding warrants out of New Mexico for first-degree murder, second-degree retaliation against a witness, third-degree abandonment or abuse of a child, and aggravated battery, and a federal warrant was issued for him for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution on January 10.
Osiel and Rico-Ruvira may be in Mexico; Rico-Ruvira was born there and has family members in the states of Zacatecas and Jalisco. Three days prior to Mauricio-Sanchez's murder, Rico-Ruvira had told neighbors that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had ordered him to return to Mexico. This story turned out to be untrue; ICE didn't even have him in their database. Rico-Ruvira and his son may be traveling in a maroon 2003 GMC Yukon with the New Mexico license plate number. A photo of the Yukon is posted with this case summary.
Due to the nature of the charges against him, anyone who encounters him or Osiel is advised to not approach them but to call law enforcement immediately.
