Details of Disappearance

Robby lived in Provo, Utah in 1982. He began getting in trouble with the law, always for minor offenses, starting in 1978. In September 1982 he was arrested for a tobacco violation and sent to the Youth Diagnostic Center (YDC), a juvenile detention center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The authorities were considering referring him for placement at the Utah Boys Ranch, a residential treatment facility, and Robby was very against this.

On October 7, he escaped from the YDC with another boy. He has never been heard from again. Robby's companion was later located, and said they parted ways once they were off the YDC grounds. Both his mother and the police began to suspect foul play in Robby's case after he failed to collect a substantial inheritance due him on his eighteenth birthday on August 2, 1983.

Although he had run away from home before, he kept in regular touch with his mother and would always let her know when he was in trouble. His mother never heard from him again after his escape, and there were no confirmed sightings.

Robby was adopted at the age of eleven months and was aware of this. His mother stated he didn't seem interested in locating his biological parents and half-brother, however. In a previous incident when Robby ran away from home, he traveled to Colorado and took laboring jobs, including roofing, to get by.

Robby was declared legally dead in January 1991. His case remains unsolved.
