Details of Disappearance

Stacy was last seen in Medford, Wisconsin on December 1, 2000. She lived with her father, Duane Rudolph. She never returned home from school on the day of her disappearance. The next day, her father got a two-page, handwritten letter dated December 1 and signed by Lori Ann Krueger, Stacy's mother.

The letter said Stacy was with Krueger and was going to stay with her, accused Duane of being an inept parent who put Stacy's health at risk, and said that evidence of Duane's ineptitude would be sent to the family court. It said that Stacy had called Krueger and asked her to come and get her.

Duane and Krueger had divorced in 1993, when Stacy was six years old.  Duane stated Lori's lifestyle was unstable, she moved frequently and he had a hard time keeping track of where she was living. In 1997, Duane remarried, and he had two children with his second wife. By the time of Stacy's disappearance, her parents had shared custody, but Duane had "physical placement", meaning Stacy would spend the majority of her time with him and he had the right to make routine daily decisions about her care.

After receiving the letter, Duane went to the police. However, it wasn't until almost two years later, on September 19, 2002, that a felony warrant was issued for Krueger. A photograph of her is posted with this case summary. Her date of birth is December 17, 1969, making her 30 years old at the time of Stacy's abduction. She's described as white, 5'8 and 125 pounds, with sandy brown hair and brown eyes. She may use the alias last names Rudolph and/or Verdone.

Krueger and Stacy may be in the company of Lori's boyfriend. Duane speculates that some "illegal activity" led to them fleeing the state. Stacy's case remains unsolved.
